ONOS as a Distributed Systems Platform - Madan Jampani, ON.Lab

Modern software systems employ complex distributed systems protocols for providing fault-tolerance, scalability and logical consistency. However, building such systems while preserving performance and the ease of programmability is a tough challenge. It requires architecting a set of core distributed systems building blocks and exposing them via simple and easy to consume abstractions. Done right, these core building blocks can form the basis for a generic distributed systems platform on top of which a host of higher level frameworks such as network controllers and resource schedulers can be built. In this talk I will discuss how the core architecture of ONOS (Open Network Operating System) provides reusable abstractions for constructing other scalable and highly available distributed systems.
