Service chaining is key aspect of SDN and NFV. A work load optimized processor like ThunderX which is a multi-core processors from Cavium with 24 to 48 cores integrated with H/w acceleration unit like Hyper Finite Automata (HFA), Xpliant Switching Module (TNS) and powered by Cavium virtSOC ™ IO technology is capable of work facilitating service chaining.
HFA is hardware acceleration block and capable of capable of application aware processing and with integral Xpliant(Flexible Pipe Line) switch module ThunderX(ARM) is capable of steering service and application aware packets e.g. the network service header by IETF or network function visualization (NFV) at ETSI.
This presentation will explore a high-level concept and architecture and software (DPDK, ODP, OVS, OPNFV and SDK) to enable intelligent service chaining using software running on ThunderX platform and relevant H/w.
