Distributed Peer-to-Peer ONOS Provider for a Multi-Domain Environment - Matteo Gerola, CREATE-NET

This presentation focuses on an open-source solution for multi-domain SDN networks, built on top of ONOS. The Multi-domain ONOS Provider (MDOP) relies on a per domain organization, where each ONOS cluster is in charge of an SDN domain, and provides a lightweight and highly manageable inter-controller event-based multicast channel. Inside each domain, ONOS provides high-availability, scalability, and fault-tolerance, while the peer-to-peer architecture of the MDOP ensures the same features between different administrative domains (AD). To support various scenarios (that can vary from a single AD to a multi ADs use case), we decided to exploit a policy-based approach, in which each domain can apply several policy levels towards remote domains. The MDOP is transparent to all the applications running on top of the ONOS platform, and can be applied to existing deployment without disruptions.
