OpenDaylight Mini-Summit: Integrating OpenDaylight with OpenStack - Isaku Yamahata, Intel
Openstack neutron integration is one of the biggest use cases of OpenDaylight. networking-odl project[1] under openstack neutron stadium. which is the key component responsible for the communication between openstack neutron and OpenDaylight. Since it’s a difficult task to keep two state, i.e. neutron state and opendaylight state, in sync in distributed environment, the several issues were reported.[2] The community has been making effort improve networking-odl to address those issues for neutron HA support, stability, scalability and etc.[3] This is a openstack neutron counter part of opendaylight clustering. This presentation gives its high level overview of this effort, technical deep dive into its improvement and lastly its future direction.

OpenDaylight Mini-Summit: South-bound Rendering Interface for Programmable Data Plane - Moderator: Anu Mercian, HPE; Panelists: Prem Jonnalagadda, Barefoot Networks; Michael Zayats, HPE; Haoyu Song, Huawei; and Jan Medved, Cisco

ODL ecosystem has evolved extensively with multiple API for various applications and features which strengthens the usability of SDN in network deployment. The south-bound rendering modules are focused on OpenFlow, which has become the de facto standard to control the network. OpenFlow requires pre-defined protocols and does not provide flexibility to manage large number of new protocols. There have been new efforts such as fd.io, OpenSwitch, P4, and POF which are focused on providing a programmable data plane to render scalable control plane programmability. In this panel, we discuss high-performance packet-processing, hardware switch-agnosticism, programmable packet processors, protocol-independence, the need for them and the problems they solve using SDN.

Come join us in this existing panel representing open source efforts for advanced south-bound rendering and packet processing. Questions can be addressed to the panel in advance by sending them to anu.mercian@hpe.com

Panelists:

1.       fd.io, Speaker: Jan Medved, Cisco
2.       POF, Speaker: Haoyu song, Huawei
3.       P4, Speaker: Prem Jonnalagadda, Barefoot Networks
4.       OpenSwitch, Speaker: Michael Zayats, HPE

OpenDaylight Mini-Summit: Service Assurance & Analytics, A Catalyst for NFV & SDN Transformation - Balaji Ethirajulu, Ericsson
In the legacy world, service assurance played a role in managing the network, identifying root cause of a problem, providing performance reports and also taking some proactive action. But, the role of service assurance will be different for NFV, SDN and hybrid networks (combination of legacy & virtual). More than ever, service assurance will play a key role or act as a catalyst for the NFV and SDN transformation. Open source projects such as OpenDaylight and OpenStack need to enhance their performance and assurance information that takes into account the network functions that will run on top of NFVI.

In this presentation, Balaji Ethirajulu will discuss how network analytics will play a key role in the area of service assurance by providing proactive and predictive actionable intelligence about the network and the impact of open source projects. He will also discuss how the service assurance can help to close the loop and enable the automation, and network agility.
