Gagan Puranik is director of Software Defined Network Architecture Planning for Verizon. His team’s current responsibility is to design new software-based network architecture to scale Verizon’s network to the meet the needs of the 21st century, including technologies such as the Internet of Things, 5G, and beyond. 

During his 18 years with Verizon, Gagan has held numerous leadership positions in various parts of the business. Gagan’s most recent assignments include leading Verizon’s 4G LTE-centric product development and operations of the Innovation Centers in Boston and San Francisco. These award-winning Innovation Centers have hosted numerous companies and visitors from around the world to discuss technology questions and rapidly develop, test, and prototype countless 4G LTE-enabled products. 

Gagan earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from University of Mysore, India, and a master’s in computer science from Mississippi State University. He also earned an MBA from Belhaven University and attended “Leading Product Innovation” at Harvard Business School. Gagan has been granted seven U.S. patents.
